Armstrong helps Kit Out The Kids
Kit Out The Kids is part of Co-Options, a not-for-profit group of social enterprise companies that provides work opportunities for adults with learning difficulties. The project collects clothing from a network of schools and nurseries, processes and sorts it for sale or re-cycling. Laundering is a vital part of the process and now Kit Out The Kids has an Armstrong installation comprising a 16 kg Primus washer-extractor and a 528 litre (50 lb) Huebsch tumble dryer.
Project Manager Karen Foster says ‘When we relied on domestic equipment laundry was a bottleneck. Now these fantastic machines have really improved our productivity. The best of our output is sold in our Rhyl shop and it has to be as good as new.’
The business has to cope with every kind of fabric in all sorts of condition so the versatility of the Primus range of programmes is appreciated. ‘We employ eighteen adults with learning difficulties but training on the Armstrong machines has been no problem’ says Karen. ‘This equipment has made a massive difference to our project.’
