Armstrong provide space saving laundry equipment to international college in Canterbury

Man putting washing into Horizon stacked washer dryer

CATS  Canterbury is an international college offering a vast range of courses to students aged for 13-22, covering everything from GCSE to International Baccalaureate and University Foundation.  The 400 students housed in the college’s eight residencies come from 40 different nationalities and, apart from three weeks holiday at Christmas, the college tends to be their home for the duration of their course, many not being able to get home during the other short holidays during the year.

In addition to the academic work, the college aims to help students develop lifeskills which will better prepare them for university and adult life.  While catered meals are available, the residencies have kitchens so they can cook for themselves, and all students have access to a laundry and are responsible for their own personal washing.  House parents launder the bedding using the same equipment, except in the largest residence where the bedding is sent out.  Over the past two years, the college has bought eight Horizon stacked washer dryers from Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems to be installed in several of the laundries.

Nicci Parsons, operations manager at the college, told us, “Space is at a premium throughout the college – any room that’s left vacant will be turned into a classroom unless you’re quick!  So the stacked washer/dryers are an excellent solution providing efficient, reliable equipment that can be used by students and house parents in a minimum of space.  In the residencies for younger students the house parents help them and teach them how to use the equipment properly.”

What our clients say...

  • “Our machines have come from several suppliers – there is a big difference in the standards of support we receive and Armstrong gets 10 out of 10 – their service has been consistently excellent over several years and when you’re as busy as we are, that’s very important.”

    Jacqui Butler

  • “It’s important to get the right equipment for the job, too small and it won’t do it properly, too big and you are wasting money, energy and space. It is also important to deal with a company you trust to supply reliable equipment and give you the support you need. As expected, the installation went smoothly, we have never had the slightest problem and I know Armstrong will deal with it if we do.”

    Colin Farquharson, St Ermin’s Hotel

  • “Our relationship with Armstrong goes back a long way, and they continue to give us excellent service and extremely reliable equipment.”
