The historic and beautifully appointed George Hotel at Inveraray in Argyll has laundry equipment supplied, installed and maintained by Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems on one of the company’s fixed price hire schemes.
The hotel has 17 unique rooms and the First House, which is under the same ownership a minute’s walk away, has another eight rooms. In addition there is a busy bar and restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The laundry handles all the bed linen, towels and restaurant linen and the laundry is operated by the housekeeping staff under head housekeeper Ann MacLachlan.
Kris Clark is the current owner of the hotel which has been in his family since 1860. He told us that in years gone by the business was very seasonal and closed down in the winter. Since a major refurbishment of all the rooms the hotel now operates at 90% occupancy throughout the year – they even operate an airport collection service for guests who don’t want to hire cars.
Asked about his experience with Armstrong, Kris said, “It’s always been good. The equipment works hard and long hours and we very rarely have a problem – and if we do Armstrong’s service team are fast and efficient ensuring we’re able to operate the laundry at full capacity again very quickly. The fixed price hire scheme helps us to budget and ensures we don’t have a big initial outlay or any sudden nasty financial surprises if a machine does break down or needs replacing.”
The George laundry comprises a Speed Queen Horizon stacking washer and dryer and the latest high spin Amazon HSF 11kg washer.
