Tumble Drying Process to Protect Fabrics

Tumble Drying Process to Protect Fabrics

  • Needs drying at the high temperature setting.
  • Good rinsing in soft water and addition of a softener to the final rinse will minimise harshness.
  • Spin drying at maximum speed essential to minimise tumble drying time.
  • Must be dried at lower temperature setting to avoid limpness and ‘tired’ creases that will not press out.
  • Polyester and polyester/cotton bedlinen and garments that are tumble dried correctly often need no ironing.
  • Overdrying these fabrics will cause static making them stick together unpleasantly.
  • Overdrying will also cause ‘greying’ because static attracts fine dust particles.

Tumble drier purchase requires as much care as for the washing machines. In general, the tumble drier capabilities must match the washing machines, but because the tumbler cycle time is usually less than half that of the washer then one tumble drier can serve two washers of similar capacity.

  • Accurate thermostat for fabric protection
  • Adequate case volume for rapid drying
  • Cooldown facility to avoid fire risks
  • Powerful exhaust to duct away moist air
  • Modulating gas burner for fine temperature control

What our clients say...

  • “Our machines have come from several suppliers – there is a big difference in the standards of support we receive and Armstrong gets 10 out of 10 – their service has been consistently excellent over several years and when you’re as busy as we are, that’s very important.”

    Jacqui Butler

  • “It’s important to get the right equipment for the job, too small and it won’t do it properly, too big and you are wasting money, energy and space. It is also important to deal with a company you trust to supply reliable equipment and give you the support you need. As expected, the installation went smoothly, we have never had the slightest problem and I know Armstrong will deal with it if we do.”
