Armstrong supply new commercial dryers to save on gas bills and increase revenue for Weymouth Launderette

The Lodmoor Launderette in Weymouth has been in the Brownsey family for 30 years and Phil Brownsey bought it from his brother four and a half years ago.  During a break-in in December 2014 all the five Speed Queen Loadstar tumble dryers, which had been working happily for nearly 30 years, were damaged beyond repair.

Phil contacted Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems and found that he was able to fit in six new Loadstar dryers, and they were duly installed in January 2015.

“The new dryers are brilliant,” Phil told us.  “The customers love them, and even with an extra dryer I am delighted to find that my gas bills have gone down since they came in.  And my revenue has increased as well, so altogether they have been a very good investment.”

Phil tells us that a lot of his customers are local from bedsits without washing machines, or small flats where people don’t want wet bedding, towels and so on hanging around to dry.  In the winter a few football teams come in to wash their kit and a lot of people come in just to use the dryers when they can’t dry laundry outside.  In the summer months a lot of business comes from the local camp sites, pubs and guest houses.

Lodmoor is a non-attended launderette open from 8.00am to 7.30pm seven days a week.  “There are a couple of other launderettes in Weymouth that do service washes,” Phil said, “but my customers seem to prefer to keep costs down and do the washing themselves.”

Overall Phil is very pleased with the service he receives from Armstrong and the quality of the equipment – “our past experience certainly indicates that the dryers earn their keep over a very long life!”
