PFC supply laundry equipment to dementia care home in Norfolk

Woman putting washing into Huebsch 330 double stacking gas dryer

The Moorings Care Home in the small village of Earsham near Bungay on the Norfolk/Suffolk border is owned and run by Cygnet Care and is registered for elderly residents with dementia.  The home has recently undergone a substantial purpose-built extension adding an additional 22 rooms to the 29 in the original building.  All are single rooms with en suite facilities.

Part of the redevelopment involved moving the laundry from the original building into the new extension.  The laundry was supplied by Armstrong dealer PFC Commercial Laundry of Norwich. The two washers were still in good working order and so were moved over to the new building.  But it was decided to replace the existing electric tumble dryer with a Huebsch 330 double stacking gas dryer – each section providing 13.5kg capacity – as it is more energy efficient.

The laundry is operated by a dedicated member of staff during the day and is usually operational from 9.00am – 2.00pm every day with care staff doing additional loads in the evening.  Bedding is sent out, so the on premises laundry only handles the residents’ personal clothing.

Robert Blackham, director of Cygnet told us how proud they are of the new, extended home.   “It was planned in with award-winning architect, Tom Ground, who specialises in residential buildings for those with dementia, and in consultation with our highly experienced staff and the ultimate ‘experts’ – our residents and their families.  We were able to move the laundry to a more suitable location, and we are very pleased with the new dryer which is working well.”

What our clients say...

  • “Our machines have come from several suppliers – there is a big difference in the standards of support we receive and Armstrong gets 10 out of 10 – their service has been consistently excellent over several years and when you’re as busy as we are, that’s very important.”

    Jacqui Butler

  • “It’s important to get the right equipment for the job, too small and it won’t do it properly, too big and you are wasting money, energy and space. It is also important to deal with a company you trust to supply reliable equipment and give you the support you need. As expected, the installation went smoothly, we have never had the slightest problem and I know Armstrong will deal with it if we do.”

    Colin Farquharson, St Ermin’s Hotel

  • “Our relationship with Armstrong goes back a long way, and they continue to give us excellent service and extremely reliable equipment.”
