Wick’s Farm, a 5-star caravan park in West Wittering, has been running equipment supplied by Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems in it’s on site launderette for about 15 years. At the end of 2012 it was re-equipped for the second time with three Speed Queen heavy duty washers and matching Speed Queen gas heated tumble dryers.
The park has 73 static pitches for holiday homes for owner occupiers and 40 spaces for tents or motor homes, all with electric link-up. The static site is open all year although of course much busier in the warmer months, and the rest of the site is open from March to November. In addition to the launderette, on-site services include a shop and extensive play area – Richard Shrubb, who owns the site, explained that it is very much geared towards families. From this year the site will also be offering some camping ‘pods’ offering comfortable, secure accommodation without the hassle of putting up a tent. The site has been awarded a Gold Bellamy Conservation Award for its commitment to preserving the rural environment and creating a habitat for wildlife.
The launderette is open 24 hours a day and, according to Mr Shrubb, “Both the equipment and the service from Armstrong has been excellent. Obviously during the season the launderette is very busy and if ever there’s a problem with a machine, which is rare, Armstrong always get in to fix it very quickly. We were glad to find them because our previous arrangement was a disaster.”
The Speed Queen washers have a 79 litre stainless steel tub offering three regular and three energy saving cycles and a 710rpm extraction speed to spin clothes dryer. The dryers have a wide door opening and a programmable timer in one-minute intervals from 1-64 with a cool down of 3-6 minutes.
